All the Woulda-Coulda-Shoulda’s
Layin’ in the sun,
Talkin’ ’bout the things,
They woulda-coulda-shoulda done…
But all those Woulda-Coulda-Shouldas
All ran away and hid
From One Little Did.
-Shel Silverstein

No one wakes up on vacation hoping the day passes quickly. No one interviews a candidate for hire just to get through the meeting but to employ a future leader. Runners don’t win the race by slowing down before the finish to stop right on top of the line. Projects are not finished pushing through the first step then stopping, but by following through to analyze the post-mortem.
What goals, big or little, have you set that fall short? What remains unfinished in your life because you drew the finish line inaccurately?
Take an inventory of unfinished business in your life and see whether you defined the end properly or unwittingly sold yourself short.
Stopping short is the mantra of the Woulda-Coulda-Shoulda. Going beyond is the life of One Little Did.
