January 2, 2012 I began a fast. Juices only for ten days and what’s known as the Daniel Fast, where you consume only fruits and vegetables. Yesterday marked the 31st day of fasting for me.
I’ve done pretty well so far though my running joke is that I dream of macaroni and cheese-stuffed fried cheeseburgers.
Why, oh why then, as I drove to work at 7:45 in the morning was I gripped with the desire for a cheeseburger. Usually, no biggie. Yesterday, goshdarned if I didn’t pull into my neighborhood burger stand and order a big, honkin’ cheeseburger with fries… And eat it. All before 8:15am.
I followed up my breakfast of champions with a cheese and chicken-filled lunch. Sigh.
In between bites, fueled by beef and cheese, I posted a daily motivating message about failure. Yep. Hot mess. https://tinawatkins.com/2012/02/06/failure/
I definitely lived everything written yesterday.
This morning I’m back at the fast. V-8 juice and water for breakfast, vegan chili for lunch.
In retrospect it was a hilarious moment. At the time, in my head, not so much.
Laugh at yourself.
There can’t be anything about you so serious, so important there is no humor to be found in your life. Frankly, if you thought there was that’d be kinda funny.
Laughter is a universal language that relaxes us, opens our spirits, grounds us. Indulge yourself.
